Pupils and their teachers outside the school house at Hook, a large stone building situated at the top of Hook Street, Lydiard Tregoze.

The school opened in 1880, fulfilling the requirement for compulsory free education, with pupils transferring from the former Dame School which had been supported by Lord Bolingbroke.
