A transcript of a newspaper article which describes the heroic experiences of Ernest Skull of The Old School House, Hook, a survivor of some of the heaviest fighting in World War I, which included his being buried in a shell burst during the capture of Passchendaele.

Ernest, a former Cowman at Hook Farm, was awarded the Distinguished Service Medal as was his brother Reginald who was tragically killed after a brief term of service.
