Victorian watercolour depicts the 16th century wallpainting over the chancel arch in St. Mary's Lydiard Tregoze. It was painted in 1837 to record the discover of a rare wallpainting during renovation works to the building. The picture was then painted over once more. It wasn't until 1901 that the wallpainting was again revealed, but damage was done in the process. The watercolour shows a greater level of detail than is visible today.

Another watercolour of the same date recorded a 15th century wallpainting depicting the murder of Thomas Becket.
