Mezzotint of Maria (nee Gunning) Countess of Coventry (1733-1760) by Richard Houston after a painting by Francis Cotes.

Lady Coventry was a famous Irish beauty and London society hostess during the reign of George II. Wife of the 6th Earl of Coventry, Maria conducted several affairs including a much talked about liaison with Frederick St.John, 2nd Viscount Bolingbroke.
