Born in his grandmother's home in Washpool, Shaw, Geoff Gough provides a wonderful record of what life was like growing up in and around Lydiard Park after World War II.

With a great memory for detail he recalls his boyhood impressions of his grandmother's cottage including her exploding wine; life on the Lydiard Park "Camp" where his parents moved to in 1950; the unfamiliar looking German POW Chapel and a hidden tunnel at Lydiard House where Geoff's paternal grandfather was the Caretaker.
