The article concerns the history of the Hardyman family whose monuments are found in St. Mary's Lydiard Tregoze. Particular reference is made to Thomas Hardyman, the first of his name to be recorded in the parish records.

Thomas Hardyman was Sir Walter St.John's Steward at Lydiard Park and he and Sir Walter's wife, Lady Johanna St.John, regularly corresponded.
