In the crypt at St. Mary's Church Battersea are a number of lead coffin plates that have been retained by the church and set within a recess. These include a plate which belonged to the coffin of Oliver St.John, 1st Viscount Grandison, Lord of the Manors of Battersea, Wandsworth and Lydiard Tregoz.

The engraved plate has become difficult to decipher but a partially transcribed label has been provided.

Oliver died in December 1630 and a fine monument to him and his wife Joan who died shortly after him, can be found in the church. See Related items
