Brief note describing the discovery of a brick imprinted with a tradesman's finger marks during the restoration of the Sir John St.John monument. Also a note on the brother- in- law of the author Iris Murdoch, Brigadier Michael Bailey, who undertook restoration work at St. Mary's Lydiard Tregoze and possibly assisted in the restoration of the Sir John monument.


A typo - the date of the monument is 1634
