'A Tour through Time' by the English writer and philosopher Aldous Huxley appeared in the Ford Motor Company's Journal, The Lincoln Mercury Times, in c1951.Huxley mourns the disappearing world of the ancient houses of Britain epitomised by the empty and dilapidated Lydiard House.

‘.. ..all is desolation…the roof leaks… The ceilings with their delicate Italian plasterwork have begun to disintegrate. The paint is peeling, the wallpapers are blotched and leprous with damp… there is a sepulchral smell of mildew and dry rot'.

The article also features St. Mary's Church and is illustrated by the Canadian war artist, George Campbell Tinning. Tinning made two additional paintings of Lydiard House which did not feature in the final magazine article which were acquired for Lydiard House in 2012.
