Richard Plummer, yeoman, of Shaw House, made his will 8 February 1821. Probate was granted 16 June 1824. He held property in Purton and 'elsewhere' which he left to his brothers John and William, in trust. All his household goods and furniture were also left to them in trust, for his wife to enjoy during her lifetime. His 'farming business' was to be continued by his wife under their direction, for her life time, if she so wished. His brothers were to act in the interests of maintaining and bringing up his children while they were minors. At the time of making his will Richard had nine children. The children were to receive equal shares in the estate upon reaching the age of twenty-one, unless his wife was still alive, in which case they would inherit on her death, when her life interest ceased.
