The article records that a painting by Swindon artist, the late Peter Burton, was chosen as the gift to the Queen to commemorate her visit to Lydiard Park in November 2007.

Ironically, as the article reveals, Peter was a lifelong socialist and republican and was somewhat amazed but honoured his picture had been selected.

Peter was a talented and well respected local artist contributing to many exhibitions in the town . He often painted Lydiard House and the Park and some of his pictures hang in Lydiard Park Hotel and Conference Centre.
