German penknife, retrieved from the battlefield by Ernest Titcombe of Lydiard Tregoze. It is dated DUSSELDORF 1902 1 MAI 15 OKTR and embossed on both sides in th style of Art Nouveau. One side carries the head of KRONPRINZ FR. WILHELM PROTECTOR (Crown Prince Friedrich Wilhelm of the German Empire & Kingdom of Prussia) and a castle. The reverse features a man carrying an implement and a female figure.

The knife appears to commemorate an event, possibly an exhibition. No doubt further investigation into the inscriptions will tell us more.
