The Royal Coat of Arms surmounting the chancel screen was probably installed by Sir Walter St.John following the restoration of the monarchy in 1660. It is unusual in that it is carved on both sides.

The Arms were repaired and conserved by Eddie Sinclair+ and a team of international conservation trainees in 2019, as part of the St. Mary's Church Conservation Project.
