This portrait of Margaret Beauchamp (c1410-1482) sits within a pediment surmounting the great St. John family polyptych in St. Mary's Lydiard Tregoze.

In the 17th century when Sir John St.John 1st Baronet (d1648) had the monument constructed, Margaret Beauchamp represented the family's most illustrious ancestor, linking the St.John's with the Royal Tudor dynasty.

The portraiture in the polyptych has been attributed to the court painter, William Larkin. (Ref. Curiously Painted by Revd. Brian Carne, published by Friends of Lydiard Park).
