A national Field of Remembrance, honouring those who died in conflict in Afghanistan and previous wars, opened in the Walled Garden in Lydiard Park in November 2010. Prince Harry led the inauguration. Since then, each year during November, volunteers lay crosses remembering those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

In 2011 an additional memorial was created in front of Lydiard House to commemorate Armistice Day 1918 - the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month when an end to hostilities was declared, marking the end of World War I.

The photographs shown here are a selection from 12 images in the Lydiard House museum collection.
