Alison Hicks of Lower Hook Farm, Lydiard Tregoze and Simon Matthews of Wootton Basset tied the knot at St. Mary's Church in 1988. The ceremony was followed by a reception for 140 family and friends, including many local farming families, in a marquee at Alison's parents farm.

A newspaper article records that Alison's pearl and diamante tiara had been worn by her mother, Valerie, at her own wedding in 1963.
