Mary Emily 5th Viscountess Bolingbroke on the steps of Lydiard House wearing a mourning gown trimmed with crepe, a fashion made popular by Queen Victoria. Mary's husband, the 5th Viscount, had died in 1899 and this photograph is thought to date from 1914, as a companion photograph shows her eldest son, Captain Henry St.John in dress uniform.
