HRM Queen Elizabeth II visited Swindon on November 7th 1997 to mark the renaming of the borough which reverted to Swindon Borough Council. Lydiard Park became a focus of the day.

Children from nearby Lydiard Tregoze Primary School made the short walk to the park to cheer her arrival. The Queen was greeted on the steps of the house by Cllr Derique Montaut, Christine Pilkington, Managing Director of HTS Lydiard Park Conference Centre and Keeper of Lydiard House, Sarah Finch-Crisp.

These photographs were taken by Roger Ogle who owned the popular local community Link Magazine which carried regular features on Lydiard Park as part of its reportage of West Swindon news.
